From October 10–13, SOCAP will bring together impact investors, social entrepreneurs, philanthropists, business leaders, and other innovators from across the world in a unique cross-sector event to catalyze collaboration for change. Now in its tenth year, SOCAP is the world’s leading conference on activating the power of capital markets to drive positive social and environmental impact—convening the marketplace at the intersection of money and meaning. This year’s speakers include the founders and managing directors of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, UBS, GIIN, Village Capital, B-Lab, and the U.S. Alliance on Impact Investing, among many others.
Shannen Naegel of MoFo Impact will join Steph Speirs (CEO and co-founder of Solstice), Kyle Westaway (managing partner of Westaway), and moderator Min Pease, Echoing Green’s director of impact investing, in a session highlighting the interaction between legal considerations and the impact economy for early-stage and growth-stage social enterprises.
When social enterprises have strong legal foundations that meet the challenges such entities face, then good governance and robust mission-focus follow. The panel session, entitled “Making the Law Work for Social Entrepreneurs,” will engage founders and leaders of social enterprises, as well as impact investors, in highlighting the intersection of law and impact, and demystifying the legal landscape for social enterprises.
